Frank T. Bennett, the son of Daniel R. Bennett and Ann Taylor, was born in 1834. In 1861 he enlisted in the 55th Pennsylvania Volunteers and was given a commission as a lieutenant colonel. In March 1862 Bennett was taken prisoner on Tybee Island, off the coast of Georgia. He was subsequently imprisoned in jails in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina, and was paroled in October 1862. Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment organized at Harrisburg, by Colonel Richard White in the summer and autumn of 1861 with men from the counties of Bedford, Berks, Blair, Cambria, Dauphin, Indiana, and Schuykill. Saw service throughout the war. Mustered out of service on the 30th of August, 1865.
